director's commentary

this is the only animation of mine that was fully inspired by ideas i had while high.
there are moments in other videos that were, but this is the only time where the entire script is comprised of them.

none of the ideas were fleshed out enough to make a single video from, so i compiled them together to make this. (note: you will pretty much never come up with an idea that is actually good while high.)

while preparing this video for the website, i found this prototype animation.
i can't remember if i just wasn't vibing with it, or if it originated from before the script was finalized (this certainly isn't johnny frog!). either way, i thought it was interesting enough to share.

the game johnny frog's playing is marble madness on the NES. i was a big fan of the arcade version as a kid, and use music from the game in a few different videos (e.g. wilson: episode 2 and reptoid vs bugicus)

bonus fact: skeeter is named after singer skeeter davis.

also the live-action scene at the beginning was filmed by me, not in paris, but bournemouth - a coastal town in the south of england.
